Information Specific To The Fitness Industry

Moving through the Roadmap


The following restrictions apply:

  • The total number of people to attend the activity, training and competition at indoor venues is to be based on occupant density of one person per two square metres regardless of facility size.

  • For outdoor venues, physical distancing off the field of play is required.

  • Physical contact permitted on the field of play only.

  • At all other times, participants, coaches, officials, trainers and spectators are to observe physical distancing requirements.

  • Masks are encouraged where it is not possible to physically distance.

  • Keep following the mandatory record keeping requirements for tracking and tracing purposes.

  • Events must be in line with Industry Framework for COVID Safe Events. Please see Events and community gatherings for more information.


Sport


Indoor sport

  • Physical contact is permitted on the field of play only.

  • The total number of people to attend the activity, training and competition at indoor venues is to be based on occupant density of one person per two square metres regardless of facility size.

  • Physical distancing is required off the field of play/activity space.

  • Where possible, sport should be scheduled to ensure there is limited co-mingling between participation groups.

  • Mandatory record keeping required for tracking and tracing purposes for all in attendance, including spectators.

  • Consider group segmentation and buffer zones as appropriate to manage risks.


Outdoor sport

  • For outdoor venues, physical distancing off the field of play is required.

  • Physical contact is permitted on the field of play only.

  • Where possible, sport will be scheduled to ensure there is limited co-mingling between participation groups.

  • Mandatory record keeping required for tracking and tracing purposes for all in attendance including spectators.

  • Consider group segmentation and buffer zones as appropriate to manage risks.


Recreation

  • Recreation activity providers can operate with physical contact permitted on the field of play/activity space.

  • When operating indoors, the total number of people permitted to attend is based on occupant density  of one person per two square metres regardless of facility size.

  • Physical distancing is required off the field of play/activity space.

  • Prior to conducting informal activities, please review the current Movement and Gatherings Health Direction.

  • Recreational travel, camping in camping grounds overnight or for multiple nights, accommodation (including caravan parks).


Outdoor gyms and equipment

  • Outdoor gyms and equipment are permitted to operate with 1.5 metres between participants (unless they are members of the same household).

  • Indoor gyms, studios, and health clubs

  • The total number of people permitted at an indoor venue is to be based on occupant density of one person per two square metres regardless of facility size.

  • Mandatory record-keeping is required for tracking and tracing purposes.
